Another NBA veteran is getting ready to bid farewell. Nicolas Batum's wife has disclosed that he's decided to hang up his sneakers after the Olympics, which includes both his NBA career and his tenure with the French national team.

This means that the upcoming season with the Clippers will be his final one, effectively marking the end of his entire career.

Earlier discussions regarding Batum's retirement focused on his involvement with the French national team.

In one of his statements, Batum conveyed his intention to retire from the national team following the Olympics.

However, his wife's revelation adds another layer to the story, indicating that he will also retire from the NBA after the Paris Olympics.

Currently, Batum has one year remaining on his contract with the Clippers, which will conclude at the end of the 2023-24 season. His annual salary for the upcoming season is $11.71 million.

During his final year, Batum aims to continue assisting the likes of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in their pursuit of an NBA championship.

At the age of 34, standing at 2.02 meters tall and weighing 104 kilograms, Batum is a product of the 2008 NBA Draft, where he was selected 25th overall.

Batum embarked on his professional basketball journey in France in 2006 before being drafted by the Houston Rockets in 2008.

He spent the initial seven seasons of his NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers before joining the Charlotte Hornets for the subsequent five seasons.

He became a member of the Clippers in 2020.

Initially, it appeared that Batum's career might be in jeopardy due to a series of injuries. However, his time in Los Angeles witnessed a career resurgence, establishing him as a potent threat from the three-point line.

While striving for his first NBA championship with the Clippers, Batum also prioritized representing his homeland, France, in international competitions.

Throughout his career, Batum has participated in 993 regular-season games, averaging 10.7 points, 5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. He has received recognition as an NBA Player of the Week on one occasion.

In his national team career, Batum secured the 2013 European Championships title and a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, showcasing his prowess on the global stage.

Over the past three seasons with the Clippers, Batum has emerged as a pivotal secondary player, participating in 204 games and posting averages of 7.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.

He has exhibited impressive shooting percentages, hitting 44.9 percent of his shots from the field and maintaining a 39.8 percent success rate from beyond the arc.

As a veteran forward, Batum boasts an illustrious professional career, marked by achievements such as an Olympic silver medal, two FIBA World Cup bronze medals, and gold, silver, and bronze medals at the EuroBasket Championships.
