What could be crazier than watching the World Cup? According to a recent CNN article, two French supporters cycled 7,000 kilometers in three months to cheer on the French players in the World Cup in Doha, Qatar's capital.


"It's a ridiculous notion, but we're the kind of individuals that dream big and don't want any regrets," one of the riders, Mehdi Balamissa, said. "Because we are all self-employed, we decided to ride for three months to Qatar."


After riding from France to Italy to watch the UEFA Nations League last year, the two came up with the idea of cycling to Qatar to put their skills to the test, according to the report. They think that riding will help spread the word about the advantages of green and sustainable transport, and they aim to deliver cycling classes to poor children when they return.


Balamisa and Gabriel Martin are said to have started out from the Stade de France in Paris, covered 13 nations in the middle, and averaged 115 kilometers each day. They slept when required and arrived in Qatar after a long travel to Lusail Stadium, where they were able to meet and take photos with the French players. France coach Didier Deschamps also presented each of them with a signed national team shirt.


Along the route, the two encountered several challenges, including bicycle tire bursts. They had to drive 15 hours to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to locate a bike repair shop, and then another 15 hours back to where the tire bursts were.


"We had a lot of challenges, but we worked our way through them," Martin added. "Bike travel is very adaptable and can be adjusted to any circumstance."


They now state that they will remain in Qatar to see the French team's game before flying back home.
