The lesser panda is a species of animal in the family Cercopithecidae and genus Lesser Panda. Resembling a cat in appearance, but fatter than a cat, the red-brown color of the red panda is found throughout the body.

The red panda has a round face, the muzzle of the red panda is short and the cheeks of the red panda have white markings.

The ears of the red panda are large. The limbs of the red panda are thick and short and the red panda is dark brown. The tail of the red panda is long, thick, and bushy, with 12 red and dark rings on the tail, and the tip of the red panda's tail is dark brown.

Speaking of red pandas, they are still somewhat related to raccoons. The classification system of the red panda was controversial when it was first discovered; in the early 19th century, the French zoologist Frédéric Gouvrier based the red panda's appearance on its resemblance to a domestic cat, and the creature was later classified as a raccoon, a bear, a panda subfamily, etc.

This difficulty in definition was due to the discrepancy between its characteristics based on conservative theories and the classification of its ecological habits. Current research classifies the red panda as a separate family of red pandas, a separate species with a long history, independent of its relatives such as the raccoons and skunks, and belonging to a basal lineage of the subfamily Skunkidae, neither cats nor bears nor raccoons.

The red pandas we see today are native to the eastern Himalayas and south-western China, with fewer than 10,000 adults estimated to survive in the wild, and are classified as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Solitary and adept climbers, descend trees head first, controlling their descent by turning their ankles, as only a few climbing species do. Like cats, red pandas also clean their fur with their tongues and rub their backs and bellies against trees or rocks.

Like raccoons, the red panda prefers to eat bamboo shoots, shoots, and leaves, various wild fruits, leaves, and mosses, as well as preying on small birds or bird eggs and other small animals and insects, especially those with a sweet flavor, and often has a lot of grass-green droppings in its area of activity.

The red panda usually resides in large tree caves or in rocky caves and crevices and comes out in the morning and evening to feed. resting or hiding from enemies.

The red panda is usually slow to move, the red panda is relatively tame, the red panda seldom calls, the red panda's sense of hearing and sight is dull, the red panda's sense of smell is not particularly sensitive, the red panda is usually active singly or in pairs or in small groups, the red panda does not have a hibernating habit, when it rains or snows, the red panda is often in the crevices of rocks or deep in the shade of large trees to escape the rain and snow.

Although they are similar in size and appearance to raccoons, you will have noticed that the color of their bodies is the most important feature that distinguishes them from raccoons. Their bodies are covered in soft reddish-brown fur, their limbs are black, their white ears are pointed and erect, their eyes are almost pure black, and the rings on their tails alternate between yellowish-red and ochre.

In addition, the red panda's limbs are shorter and thicker than those of a raccoon, and the soles of its feet are thickly fuzzy, making it very cute as it waddles along.
